The Broadway production of Tracy Letts’ August: Osage County has set a closing date of June 28. Winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize and five Tony Awards, including Best Play, August will have played 648 performances and 18 previews upon closing. The saga of the dysfunctional Weston clan of Oklahoma opened on December 4, 2007, at the Imperial Theatre and moved to the Music Box Theatre on April 9, 2008, directed by Tony winner Anna D. Shapiro.
The Broadway cast currently includes Phylicia Rashad as matriarch Violet Weston, John Cullum, Elizabeth Ashley, Frank Wood, Tony nominee Amy Morton, Anne Berkowitz, Guy Boyd, Kimberly Guerrero, Brian Kerwin, Michael Milligan, Sally Murphy, Mariann Mayberry and Troy West.
As previously announced, August: Osage County will begin its national tour, starring Estelle Parsons as Violet, at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts on July 24 before travelling to more than 18 locations around the country.
