Film and recording star Jennifer Lopez could be taking up residence in one of Broadway’s favorite neighborhoods—or In the Heights, to be exact. The famous face has been giving the Tony Award winning production a lot of face time, according to the New York Post, taking in the show twice last week and reportedly discussing roles with producer Meryl Poster.
While a representative for Lopez says, “She loves the play but is not Broadway bound,” rumors have begun to circulate that the famous triple-threat may be eying a move to the stage. More likely, say insiders, is the possibility of Lopez joining the forthcoming film adaptation of the hit tuner, announced earlier this year by Universal Pictures, which has acquired film rights to the show Tony Award winning leading man and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is slated to play a producing role in the big screen transfer, while bookwriter Quiara Alegria Hudes will pen the screenplay.
Fortunately, producer Poster already has experience bringing Broadway to the big screen—she also produced the acclaimed film version of the long-running Chicago.
