The Off-Broadway production Judy and Me has announced it will close on December 14. The show began previews at the St. Luke’s Theatre on October 7, and officially opened on October 19. It will have played 15 previews and 67 performances.
Written by Judy Garland impersonator Peter Mac, Judy and Me tells the story of a 16-year-old who confronts homophobia and domestic abuse while growing up on Long Island, and how Garland's life and music helps him through it all.
First produced in 2002 at the cabaret Rose’s Turn, where its initial four-night performance was extended to a nearly three-year run, the play was also staged at the Arthur Seelen Theatre and the Producers Club before opening at St. Luke’s.
In a press release, a producer stated that Judy and Me may tour, as the show has received offers.
