New Musical Romantic Poetry Sets Closing Date at MTC

Manhattan Theatre Club's production of the new musical Romantic Poetry has set a closing date of December 7 at New York City Center Stage I. The company had been selling single tickets through December 14. Featuring a book by John Patrick Shanley Doubt and score by Henry Krieger Dreamgirls, the show began previews on September 30 and opened on October 28, directed by Shanley.

Romantic Poetry stars Jeb Brown, Jerry Dixon, Ivan Hernandez, Mark Linn-Baker, Patina Renea Miller and Emily Swallow. Described as a crackpot musical romance, the musical includes characters like Connie of Woodmere Swallow, who has just married Fred of Newark Hernandez, but her exes Brown, Linn-Baker are back in the picture and not sure they approve of the union. Mary of Greenpoint Miller climbs the fire escape of Frankie of Little Italy Dixon with amorous erotic intent, but things go awry as she reaches for her dream.
