American Idol alum Ace Young will join the national tour of Grease on December 4 as Danny Zuko when the musical arrives for a five-day run at the Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte, NC. Young made his Broadway debut in the show in the fall of 2008 as Kenickie. The production is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall.
Also joining the tour on December 1 are Laura D’Andre as Rizzo, Broadway vet Allison Fischer as Patty Simcox, Jesse JP Johnson as Doody, and Broadway vet Jamison Scott as Eugene.
American Idol Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks continues to star as Teen Angel alongside Lauren Ashley Zakrin as Sandy, Will Blum as Roger, Bridie Carroll as Jan, Kate Morgan Chadwick as Frenchy, Kelly Felthous as Marty, Dominic Fortuna as Vince Fontaine, Roxie Lucas as Miss Lynch, David Ruffin as Kenickie and Nick Verina as Sonny. The ensemble features Joseph Corella, Preston Ellis, Erin Henry, Ruby Lewis, Dayla Perkins, Mark Raumaker, Mike Russo, Matthew William Schmidt, Christina Sivrich and Elizabeth Stacey.
Grease centers on Danny Zuko, whose world is turned upside down when his summer crush, new girl in town Sandy Dumbrowski, appears at Rydell High on the first day of school. Marshall’s production features songs from the hit 1978 feature film, including “Sandy,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “You¹re the One That I Want” and the title tune, together with original songs by Warren Casey and Jim Jacobs such as “Summer Nights,” ‘Greased Lightnin’” and “We Go Together.”
After stopping in Charlotte, the Grease tour is headed for Madison, WI; Wallingford, CT; St. Louis, MO; Schenectady, NY; Washington, DC; Milwaukee, WI; Pittsburgh, PA; Rochester, NY; Buffalo, NY; Toronto, Ontario; Hershey, PA; Jacksonville, FL; Fayetteville, AR; Cleveland, OH; and Boston, MA.
