Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman's You Can't Take it With You is coming back to Broadway. The classic play, directed by Tony winner Anna D. Shapiro (August: Osage County), is set to begin previews November 5, 2010 and will open at a Broadway theater to be determined on November 14. Casting and additional details will be announced soon.
You Can't Take it With You introduces audiences to the freethinking Sycamore family and the mayhem that ensues when their daughter's fiancé brings his conservative, straight-laced parents to dinner on the wrong night.
The show debuted at the Booth Theatre in 1936, going on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and was last revived in 1983 in a production starring Jason Robards, Elizabeth Wilson and Maureen Anderman.
This new production is produced by Elizabeth Ireland McCann and Joey Parnes.
You Can't Take it With You will play a pre-Broadway engagement at Boston's Huntington Theatre Company from September 24 through October 24, 2010.
