Matt Doyle of Broadway’s Spring Awakening and Bye Bye Birdie and TV’s Gossip Girl has booked a return engagement at Joe’s Pub on April 21. Joined by guests Jennifer Damiano (Next to Normal) and Emma Hunton (Spring Awakening), Doyle’s all-new concert will spotlight songs by up-and-coming musical theater composers Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk, Joe Iconis and Ryan Scott Oliver, as well as pieces by Paul Scott Goodman, Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen and a new song by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater.
Doyle, who played two sold-out engagements at Joe’s Pub in summer 2009, made his Broadway debut in Spring Awakening and later assumed the role of Melchior in the show's national tour. Most recently, he played Hugo Peabody in the Broadway revival of Bye Bye Birdie. On television, he was featured as Jonathan Whitney in Gossip Girl.
The concert is being directed by Travis Greisler with musical supervision by Lowdermilk, and is being produced by Katie Riegel of jokr productions and Noah Cornman of Sh-K-Boom & Ghostlight Records.
