Nominations have been announced for the 11th Annual Broadway.com Audience Awards. The nominations, which honor the best of the 2009-2010 season on Broadway and off, were chosen by online theater fans in 25 categories.
The Addams Family topped the list of this year's honorees, receiving 10 nominations in total including Favorite New Broadway Musical. Stars Nathan Lane, Bebe Neuwirth, Kevin Chamberlin, Krysta Rodriguez and Broadway.com video blogger Jackie Hoffman were also honored in various categories. Composer/lyricist Andrew Lippa received two nominations in the unique category of Favorite New Broadway Song, for the songs "When You're an Addams" and "Pulled."
The musical Memphis, the second-highest nominated show with nine nods including Favorite New Broadway Musical, filled out the song category, with three of its songs making the grade: "Memphis Lives in Me," "Steal Your Rock 'n' Roll" and "The Music of My Soul." The remainder of the show's nominations focused on stars Chad Kimball and Montego Glover, who were eligible in various one-of-a-kind races including Favorite Onstage Pair.
Other popular new shows with theatergoers this year include the Green Day musical American Idiot (which received eight nominations), the musical revival Promises, Promises (seven nods, including three each for stars Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth), the comedy Lend Me a Tenor (six nominations, including Favorite Broadway Play Revival) and A Little Night Music (which voters nominated in five categories, including three for leading lady Catherine Zeta-Jones in the categories of Favorite Leading Actress, Favorite Breakthrough Performance and Favorite Diva Performance).
Broadway.com Audience Awards also honor long-running shows, and their replacement stars. Of older shows, Hair received the most nominations with five, including mentions for new stars Kyle Riabko, Ace Young, Diana DeGarmo and Annaleigh Ashford.
