Harry Connick Jr., Megan Mullally and Kelli O'Hara will headline at the American Theatre Wing's 2010 spring gala honoring the 100th birthday of composer Frank Loesser. The event, titled Heart and Soul: The Legacy of Frank Loesser, will take place on June 7 at Cipriani 42nd Street. All proceeds will benefit the Wing's education and outreach programs.
Connick will return to Broadway in a series of concerts this July at the Neil Simon Theatre. He starred opposite O’Hara in The Pajama Game, which earned the pair Tony nominations. O’Hara’s other credits include Tony-nominated performances in South Pacific and The Light in the Piazza. Mullally was last seen on Broadway in Young Frankenstein and also appeared in How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Grease.
Loesser composed scores for Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, The Most Happy Fella and Where’s Charley? His widow, Jo Sullivan Loesser, and children Susan, John and Emily will act as honorary chairs. The evening's entertainment will be produced by Lauren Class Schneider and directed by Marc Bruni, with musical direction by Rob Berman, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Tom Young.
