In the Heights veterans Jon Rua and Shaun Taylor-Corbett will return to the Broadway cast of the Tony Award winning hit musical this summer at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Rua will take over the role of sidekick Sonny beginning June 22 and play through July 25, replacing former scene stealer David Del Rio. On July 26, Rua will then jump to the part of Graffiti Pete (replacing Seth Stewart) while Taylor-Corbett, fresh off the national tour of In the Heights, takes over as Sonny.
The pair will join stars Corbin Bleu, Janet Dacal, Marcy Harriell, Bianca Marroquin, Christopher Jackson, Priscilla Lopez, Olga Merediz, Rick Négron, Courtney Reed, Noah Rivera and Seth Stewart leading a cast that features Tony Chiroldes, Dwayne Clark, Rosie Lani Fiedelman, Marcus Paul James, Nina Lafarga, Jennifer Locke, Doreen Montalvo, Noah Rivera, Eliseo Román, Gabrielle Ruiz, Luis Salgado, Rickey Tripp, Michael Balderrama, Blanca Camacho, Allison Thomas Lee, Alejandra Reyes and Marcos Santana. American Idol winner Jordin Sparks makes her Broadway debut with the production on August 19.
Rua returns to In the Heights after making his Broadway debut with the production. His off-Broadway credits include The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Diety, In the Heights and Damn Yankees. Additional New York credits include Bring It On and Kingdom. On TV, he has been seen on Law & Order and Don Omar.
Taylor-Corbett also made his Broadway debut in the original company of In the Heights. His off-Broadway work includes In the Heights and Altar Boyz. On TV, he has been seen on Hi-5.
Now in its third year at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, In The Heights is the winner of four 2008 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
