During a press tour with TV journalists on August 2, Glee creator Ryan Murphy spilled secrets of the show’s second season and revealed plans to create a half-hour musical comedy series starring Promises, Promises leading lady Kristin Chenoweth, according to Zap2it.com.
The Chenoweth series would not be a Glee spinoff: "I've always wanted to do something for Kristin,” Murphy was quoted as saying. “Kristin is a good, close friend of mine obviously, so I'm writing a half hour musical comedy specifically for Kristin because if you can sing like that, I want her to be the star of her own show where she sings. I can't say too much about it yet. Kristin is so funny. I want it to be adult."
Speaking on the first day of production of Glee’s Britney Spears-themed episode, Murphy asserted that the pop princess “is arguably the most important female [musician] other than Lady Gaga in the last 10 years, so we're sort of doing an episode not only of her music but also her public image…it's a show designed to show off the skills of Heather Morris, who plays Brittany…she was a back up dancer for Beyonce, and her dream was to be an actress and she's such a great actress because she doesn't know what she's doing in some weird way. She's so natural and funny."
In other Glee buzz, Murphy revealed that Susan Boyle will get a makeover from Kurt [Emmy nominee Chris Colfer] on the show’s Christmas episode; Oscar-winning Gleek Javier Bardem will appear in the second half of the season, possibly as “some demented Spanish rock star/substitute teacher”; the previously announced Rocky Horror Show-themed episode will air just before Halloween; Jessalyn Gilsig will be back as Will Schuester’s voracious ex-wife, Terri; Kurt will get an as-yet uncast boyfriend; and Santana [Naya Rivera] and un-pregnant Quinn [Dianna Agron] will duke it out for Queen Bee of the school. Whew!
