Film director Andy Fickman is hoping to bring the songs and life story of legendary performer Cher to the stage, according to Popeater. "She's a fairly phenomenal character, as a human being I think she's one of the great icons of all time, a force to be reckoned with," Fickman said.
While Fickman remains mum on details, he revealed the show would follow the performer's career from her days as a teen singer alongside her late ex-husband Sonny Bono, to her rise as a successful solo artist and Academy Award-winning actress. No word yet on whether Cher herself (who stars in the fall film Burlesque) will be involved in the project.
Fickman's film credits include the upcoming Kristen Bell/Kristin Chenoweth comedy You Again, Race to Witch Mountain, She's the Man and the TV adaptation of his off-Broadway musical Reefer Madness.
Cher, of course, is known for her many hit songs including "I Got You Babe," "If I Could Turn Back Time" and "Believe." She received an Academy Award for the film Moonstruck and appeared on Broadway in 1982's Come Back to the 5 & Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean as well as its film adaptation.
