Mario Cantone (Laugh Whore), Marc Kudish (9 to 5) and Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) will perform in the Actors Fund benefit concert Nothing Like a Dame: A Party for Comden and Green on November 1 at the Laura Pels Theatre. The event will honor the songs of composing team Betty Comden and Adolph Green. Other stars set to perform include Charles Busch (The Divine Sister), Polly Bergen (Follies), Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (A Little Night Music), Green's widow Phyllis Newman (Subways are for Sleeping), Nancy Anderson (Wonderful Town), Debbie Gravitte (Jerome Robbins' Broadway), Green's daughter Amanda Green (High Fidelity), Jessica Molaskey (Sunday in the Park with George) and John Pizzarelli (Dream). Additional participants will be announced at a later date.
Comden and Green's many collaborations include On the Town, Wonderful Town, Do Re Mi, Subways are for Sleeping, Bells are Ringing, Hallelujah, Baby!, Applause, On the Twentieth Century and The Will Rogers Follies as well as screenplays for such films as The Band Wagon, Auntie Mame and Singin' in the Rain.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative.
