Television and films stars Julia Stiles and America Ferrera are in talks to star in Neil LaBute’s Reasons to Be Pretty in the West End next spring, according to London's Daily Mail.
The show would be a London stage debut for Ferrera, who is best known for her starring role on hit television show Ugly Betty. Before she landed her role on Betty, Ferrera appeared off-Broadway in Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead. Stiles, who recently appeared in a weekend-long run of LaBute’s Filthy Talk for Troubled Times in New York, made her London stage debut in a revival of David Mamet’s Oleanna opposite Aaron Eckhart in 2004. She reprised the role in a 2009 Broadway production, co-starring Bill Pullman.
Reasons to Be Pretty centers on Greg, whose tightknit social circle is thrown into turmoil when his off-handed remarks about a female co-worker’s pretty face and his girlfriend’s lack thereof get back to said girlfriend. The play had a successful run at off-Broadway’s Lucille Lortel Theatre in May 2008 and transferred to Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre the following April.
