Olivier Award winner David Bradley will play the lead role of Andy in Harold Pinter’s Moonlight at London’s Donmar Warehouse next spring. Bijan Sheibani will direct; additional casting has not been announced. Performances are set to begin on April 7, 2011, ahead of an April 12 opening.
Moonlight is Harold Pinter's tragic comedy of family dysfunction. As Andy lies on his deathbed and his wife, Bel, tries desperately to bring his estranged sons to his side, Andy’s thoughts turn to his youth, loves, lust and fears. Moonlight premiered in London in 1993 starring Ian Holm, Anna Massey and Douglas Hodge (La Cage aux Folles), and made its New York debut in 1995 starring Jason Robards, Blythe Danner and Liev Schreiber.
Bradley previously appeared at the Donmar Warehouse in Twelfth Night/Uncle Vanya, which also ran at BAM. His many theater credits include Henry IV Parts I & II, The Night Season, The Mysteries, The Homecoming and Mother Courage at London’s National Theatre. he has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company in The Tempest, Julius Caesar, Hamlet and King Lear, for which he won an Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actor. Bradley's film credits include The Holding, Another Year, Harry Brown, Hot Fuzz and the Harry Potter series.
