Michael Jackson’s nephew TJ Jackson will star opposite pop star Taylor Dayne in a revised production of the musical Sisterella, scheduled to begin performances in Los Angeles in spring 2011.
The Larry Hart penned-musical is an adaptation of Cinderella set in early 20th century New York, and tells the story of a wicked stepmother who tries to steal the inheritance her late husband left his daughter. Sisterella premiered in 1996 at the Pasadena Playhouse, with Michael Jackson as its executive producer.
TJ Jackson, son of Michael’s brother Tito, will play the part originally developed for the King of Pop, Prince Jean Luc. Dayne, best known for her pop songs such as “Love Will Lead You Back” and “Tell It to My Heart,” will take on the role of Dahlia, the stepmother. Dayne appeared on Broadway as Amneris in Aida, and early in her career, she performed as the opening act on Michael Jackson’s “Bad” tour.
Jerry Greenberg, who ran Michael Jackson’s record label (with Sony Music) MJJ Music, will produce, along with Jackson's former manager Frank Dileo. Raymond G. Del Barrio will choreograph and co-direct the production; no other cast or creative team members have been announced.
