Neil Patrick Harris will star as Bobby in the New York Philharmonic's concert staging of Company. The production will run from April 7 through 9 at Avery Fisher Hall with Lonny Price directing and Paul Gemignani conducting. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Harris has appeared on Broadway in Assassins, Proof and Cabaret. He previously starred in the Philharmonic's production of Sweeney Todd. His many other theater credits include All My Sons, Amadeus, tick, tick...BOOM and Rent. He also directed a production of Rent this summer at the Hollywood Bowl. Harris, who is a new father, can currently be seen on TV's How I Met Your Mother and guest starred earlier this year on Glee.
Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by George Furth, Company follows a single, middle-aged New Yorker named Bobby as he observes the relationships of his married, engaged and divorced friends. The show first opened on Broadway on April 26, 1970 and earned a Tony Award for Best Musical. The 2006 revival starring Raul Esparza as Bobby took home the Tony for Best Revival of a Musical.
