Tony-winning star Hugh Jackman suffered an injury on December 14 during an aerial stunt over the Sydney Opera House designed to welcome Oprah Winfrey to Australia, according to Reuters. Jackman was hooked to a zipline and was scheduled to swoop down a cable to join the talk show queen, who accompanied a group of fans on an all-expenses-paid trip Down Under. Jackman apparently hit the brakes too late, smashing into a lighting rig and suffering a cut near his eye.
According to news reports, Jackman made light of the incident. “That was so much fun, until the end," he joked. "I came down waving to everyone, looking over Sydney Harbour, saw my dad, the kids and you [Winfrey], went to pull the brake and then boing." The actor dabbed his injured eye with a towel before joining Winfrey for a glass of red wine and a sample of the Aussie snack Vegemite.
