The Vineyard Theatre will present two new work's, Zach Helm's Interviewing the Audience and Christopher Shinn's Picked, this winter. Interviewing the Audience will begin performances February 3, 2011, ahead of an opening night of February 10 and will run through February 27. Picked will begin at a yet-to-be-determined date in March.
Interviewing the Audience is described as an interactive theater experience in which Helm (Good Canary) uses a method pioneered by late author Spalding Gray to interview numerous audience volunteers onstage. He then crafts a theatrical journey for the audience using each person's stories.
Picked follows a young actor who finds himself thrust into the spotlight when an iconic Hollywood director casts him as the lead in his newest film. Shinn was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2008 for Dying City and previously collaborated with the Vineyard on Where Do We Live. The cast and creative team have yet to be announced.
The two shows replace the Vineyard's postponed revival of On a Clear Day You Can See Forever.
