The cast of Lincoln Center Theater’s Broadway production of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown will reunite before the end of January to preserve the musical on an original cast recording to be released by Ghostlight Records in the spring. The show closed on January 2, three weeks earlier than its limited engagement was scheduled to end at the Belasco Theatre. The CD will be produced by composer David Yazbek and Dean Sharenow, with Kurt Deutsch serving as Executive Producer.
The original cast recording of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown will feature de’Adre Aziza, Laura Benanti, Danny Burstein, Justin Guarini, Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Patti LuPone, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Mary Beth Peil and Sherie Rene Scott. Based on the 1988 film by Pedro Almodóvar, the show featured music and lyrics by Yazbek and a book by Jeffrey Lane.
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown was set in Madrid and told the story of the intertwining lives of a group of women whose relationships with men lead to a tumultuous 48 hours of love, confusion and passion. Bartlett Sher's Broadway premiere production opened on November 4, 2010.
