Tony winner Marissa Jaret Winokur has departed CBS' mom-themed chat series, The Talk. Winokur had appeared on the show, which began airing last fall, in "Mom on the Street" segments interviewing everyday mothers. "As the show evolved, there really wasn't room for my segments," Winokur said to People magazine about her appearances, which were supposed to be featured twice a week.
"We think the world of Marissa as a creative talent, on-air personality and super mom," said the show's executive producer Brad Bessey. "This is a mutual decision based on time, not talent." Current co-hosts Julie Chen, Leah Remini, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne and Holly Robinson Peete will remain with the show.
Winokur says she hopes "to be more involved with what I'm working on," including developing her own cable show and launching a clothing line. The actress received a Tony Award for originating the role of Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray. She has also appeared on Broadway in Grease. Her many TV and film credits include Dancing With the Stars, Stacked, American Beauty, Scary Movie, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Dance Your Ass Off.
