Acadamy Award nominee (and the co-host of this year's ceremony) Anne Hathaway is the latest star readying to make an appearance on Glee. "We just finalized a deal with Anne to come onto the show," series creator Ryan Murphy told People.com. "She's already created [her role]. She wants to play the lesbian aunt of Chris Colfer [Kurt]. Because everyone needs a lesbian aunt."
Hathaway received an Oscar nomination for Rachel Getting Married. Her many film credits include The Princess Diaries, Love and Other Drugs, The Devil Wears Prada, Get Smart and Alice in Wonderland. She also appeared in the 2009 Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night.
The series will continue to showcase popular Broadway tunes in its second season, including Rent powerhouse duet, "Take Me Or Leave Me." Lea Michele and Amber Riley will perform the number channeling Tony winner Idina Menzel and Fredi Walker who first sang the number together in the show's original Broadway production. Menzel has appeared as a guest star on the series as Michele's birth mother.
Glee recently picked up a 2011 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical as well as wins for series regulars Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer.
