The original Broadway cast recording of Priscilla Queen of the Desert will be released by Rhino Entertainment on March 15. The cast will meet to record the album, which will be produced by Stephen 'Spud' Murphy and Frank Filipetti, the week of January 24 in New York City. Priscilla is set to begin performances at the Palace Theatre on February 28 ahead of a March 20 opening.
The album will include over 20 popular dance hits featured in the musical such as "It's Raining Men," "I Say a Little Prayer" and "I Will Survive." Songs by Elvis, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and Tina Turner are also included in the score.
The Broadway production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert will star Tony Sheldon as Bernadette, Will Swenson as Tick/Mitzi, Nick Adams as Adam/Felicia, C. David Johnson as Bob and Jacqueline Arnold, Anastacia McClesky and Ashley Spencer as the Divas. Based on the popular 1994 film of the same name, the musical follows three drag queens as they drive across Australia in a run down bus and learn about their friendships and own personalities.
