Grammy winner Beyonce is in talks to headline a movie remake of A Star is Born directed by Clint Eastwood, according to Deadline.com. No male lead has been cast, but the production is rumored to have their eyes set on Will Smith (who is currently developing a movie musical remake of his own with Annie).
Beyonce's film credits include Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records, Austin Powers in Goldmember, The Pink Panther, The Fighting Temptations and Obsessed. She has received 16 Grammy Awards between her solo career and days with popular girl group Destiny's Child.
A Star is Born follows an aspiring singer whose career begins to rise while her famous boyfriend's own success crumbles under his alcoholism. Eastwood's version would mark the fourth film of the story. The original 1937 movie starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. In 1954 George Cukor directed the first remake, starring Judy Garland and James Mason, which was followed by a 1976 update featuring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
