The 83rd annual Academy Awards ceremony is on its way, so Broadway.com asked which of this year's Oscar nominated leading actors you'd like to see perform on Broadway. Readers have cast their ballots and crowned The King's Speech's Colin Firth as top choice. Firth, who earned his second Best Actor nomination in a row for playing King George VI, pulled in 33% of votes. Broadway shouldn't be much of a stretch for the British actor, as he co-starred in the 2008 film adaptation of the long running hit musical, Mamma Mia!
Following in second place came Best Actor nominee (and the co-host of this year's ceremony!) James Franco. The 127 Hours actor earned 23% of votes. Fans won't have to wait too long to catch Franco onstage, as the actor recently confirmed he'll make his Broadway debut later this year in a revival of Tennessee Williams' Sweet Bird of Youth opposite Oscar winner (and a nominee again this year) Nicole Kidman.
Readers who enjoyed watching Natalie Portman's sanity dissolve as a ballerina in Black Swan hope the newly engaged actress will travel a few blocks down to the Theater District and return to Broadway. Portman, who took in 21% of votes for a third place finish, appeared on Broadway at age 16 as the title role in the 1997 Tony-nominated revival of The Diary of Anne Frank and later played Nina in a Central Park mounting of The Seagull.
Thanks for voting, and be sure to tune into the Oscars on February 27!
