Barbra Streisand will perform at the 2011 Grammy Awards, to be telecast live on February 13. The eight-time Grammy winner is nominated again this year in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category for Love Is the Answer. She will be also honored as MusiCares' (the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) Person of the Year on February 11. No word yet on what Streisand will sing at the Grammys.
"I love musicians," Streisand told the Los Angeles Times about the honor. "I love people who create music, play music, sing music—whatever. It is a very unified profession. We admire each other's work."
Streisand also discussed her plans to star as Mama Rose in an upcoming film adaptation of Gypsy, but noted that the story leaked "a little early, because the deal wasn't finished. I am not sure about directing it. It may just be too much. I know I will be playing the part. It's like a bookend starting with Funny Girl," she commented on her movie musical career.
