Although these days she's best known on Broadway for her shattering work as a troubled mom in the musical Next to Normal, Tony winner Alice Ripley is a rock chick at heart. She's released several albums of original material while building up her theater resume, including her heartfelt folky 2001 debut Everything's Fine and multiple harder rocking CDs with her band RIPLEY. While performing in Next to Normal on Broadway (she now headlines the national tour of the show), Ripley would pick up her guitar when she got home from the theater late at night and sing the classic rock songs that made her want to be a musician in the first place. She called it her daily practice, which inspired her new Sh-K-Boom Records release, Daily Practice, Volume 1. On the CD, Ripley sings songs from artists like Bruce Springsteen, U2, REM, Carly Simon, The Police and Lucinda Williams.
