The forthcoming London burlesque revue The Hurly Burly Show will feature the musical talents of singer/songwriter Spencer Day, who will accompany the show and perform two specially commissioned songs. The revue, which stars burlesque soloist and vocalist Miss Polly Rae, will begin performances on March 3 and open on March 11 at the West End’s Garrick Theatre. William Baker will direct.
Joining Miss Polly Rae on stage will be her Hurly Burly Girlys: Cindy Belliot, Sarah Louise Buckle, Fallon Donakay, Katie Ella Hardwicke, Kathryn Mclauglin, Jennifer White and Sophie Zucchini.
The Hurly Burly Show is an all-singing, all-dancing revue with a contemporary twist, fusing the traditions of burlesque and bawdy cabaret with modern-day fashion, music and popular culture. With spectacular costumes, sets and lighting, Miss Polly Rae and her Hurly Burly Girlys focus on the elegance of the tease and take audiences on a provocative journey full of wit, joie de vivre and celebration of the female form.
Day is an award-winning vocalist, songwriter and pianist who has released three albums: Introducing Spencer Day, Movie of Your Life and Vagabond. He collaborated with actor Rafe Chase on a twenty song musical revue, Someday Love, which premiered at San Francisco’s New Conservatory Theatre Center, in which he also appeared. Spencer has opened for Rufus Wainwright at the Napa Valley Opera House and has appeared at the Monterey Jazz Festival as well as the Tanglewood Jazz Festival.
The Hurly Burly Show features musical direction by Steve Anderson, choreography by Ashley Wallen, vocal arrangements by Terry Ronald and lighting by Nick Whitehouse. The limited engagement will conclude on May 3, 2011.
