A pair of Broadway favorites will co-star in an untitled pilot for CBS described as a supernatural medical drama, according to Deadline.com: Two-time Tony nominee Patrick Wilson and two-time Tony winner Jennifer Ehle have been cast in the new show, which features a script by Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich). Oscar winner Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs) has signed on to direct the pilot.
The proposed drama centers on an ultra-competitive surgeon (Wilson) whose life is changed forever when his ex-wife (Ehle), a doctor running a free clinic, dies and begins teaching him the meaning of life from the hereafter.
Wilson, a Tony nominee for The Full Monty and Oklahoma!, most recently appeared on Broadway in All My Sons. His films include Morning Glory, Watchmen, The A-Team, Lakeview Terrace and Little Children.
Ehle won Tonys for The Coast of Utopia and The Real Thing and appeared on Broadway in Design for Living. She recently received a SAG Award as part of the ensemble cast of The King’s Speech and co-starred with Oscar winner Colin Firth in a miniseries version of Pride and Prejudice.
