Comedienne Sandra Bernhard returned to the New York stage on March 7, when she and downtown performance artist Justin Vivian Bond premiered their new musical, Arts & Crafts, at cabaret venue Joe’s Pub. The pair teamed up with Scissor Sisters lead singer Jake Shears and musical theater composer Lance Horne to pen the new show, which played two performances, directed by Gordon Greenberg. In addition to being co-creators, Bernhard and Bond also starred as cousins—one who went from rock chick to born-again Midwest mother, the other from small town gay to urban art world sophisticate—who reunite at a family wedding.
