Stephen Sondheim, Angela Lansbury and More Celebrate London Theater at the 2011 Olivier Awards

The biggest stars of the London stage stepped out to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on March 13 to attend the 2011 Olivier Awards. Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton hosted the formerly low-key event, which got a makeover this year to include a live broadcast on the BBC (including red carpet coverage) and star presenters, accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra. As we reported earlier, shows like Legally Blonde, Clybourne Park and After the Dance were the evening’s big winners, and musical theater legend Stephen Sondheim graced the stage to accept the illustrious 2011 Society of London Theatre Special Award.
