Tony and Emmy winner Kristin Chenoweth has joined the cast of the ABC pilot Good Christian Bitches, according to Deadline.com. The dramedy, written by Robert Harling and produced by Darren Starr, follows Amanda (Leslie Bibb), a divorced mother who returns home to Dallas hoping to reconcile with her childhood classmates. Chenoweth will play Darlene, a bible-loving housewife whose behavior isn't always so heavenly and friendly.
Chenoweth received an Emmy for the TV series Pushing Daisies, and a Tony for You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. She has also appeared on Broadway in Promises, Promises, The Apple Tree, Wicked, Steel Pier and Epic Porportions. Her TV and film credits include Kristin, Glee, You Again, Sit Down Shut Up, Four Christmases, Running With Scissors, Deck the Halls, The West Wing and Stranger Than Fiction. She is currently working on her fourth solo album.
Playing a religious woman should not be a stretch for Chenoweth, who is often vocal about her Christian beliefs and has included gospel songs on her previous albums.
