Could Mike Tyson be heading to Broadway? As the boxer readies to launch his new reality series Taking on Tyson, the former heavyweight champ discussed his future acting plans with The New York Times. "I want to entertain people," he tells the paper. "I want a Tony Award."
Tyson has yet to take to the Broadway stage (a requirement if he hopes to win that Tony Award), but has brushed up his acting chops in recent years. He made a cameo as himself in the 2009 comedy hit, The Hangover, and will return for the upcoming sequel, which hits theaters this summer. Tyson has also played himself in films and TV series such as Entourage, Play It To the Bone, When Will I Be Loved and Rocky Balboa.
While Tyson said he'd like to start playing roles other than scripted versions of himself, Broadway has seen several boxing plays over the years. They include Golden Boy and The Great White Hope, which scored original star James Earl Jones a Tony Award in 1969.
