Child-friendly musical The Tiger Who Came to Tea will settle into the Vaudeville Theatre on London's West End for nine weeks in the summer. This West End debut follows a 24-date U.K. tour. It begins performances on July 6 and opens on July 8, directed by David Wood.
Based on the picture book written and illustrated by Judith Kerr, The Tiger Who Came to Tea has been adapted for the stage with songs and lyrics by director Wood, whose previous works include Goodnight Mr. Tom¸ Shaun The Sheep, George’s Marvellous Medicine, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Gingerbread Man, BFG and The Witches.
In The Tiger Who Came to Tea, the doorbell rings just as Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea to reveal a big, stripy tiger. Since it was first published in 1968, the book has sold over 4 million copies worldwide and is translated in over 20 different languages. This much-loved tale of a tiger creating tea time mayhem is brought to life on stage in a show packed with magic, sing a long songs and clumsy chaos.
The limited engagement will end on September 4.
