Broadway vet and Steppenwolf ensemble member Mariann Mayberry (August: Osage County, Metamorphoses, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) has stepped into Playwrights Horizons’ world premiere production of David Greenspan’s Go Back to Where You Are. Mayberry replaces Mary Shultz, who has departed the cast because of a family emergency. Go Back to Where You Are is set to open on April 12 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre and run through May 1, directed by Leigh Silverman.
In addition to Mayberry and Greenspan, the cast includes Lisa Banes, Stephen Bogardus Tim Hopper, Brian Hutchison and Michael Izquierdo.
Go Back to Where You Are is described as a melancholy comic romance centering on a forgotten chorus boy (Greenspan) from the theater of Ancient Greece who is sent back to Earth on a mission from God. He finds himself among a vacationing family in Montauk, caught off-guard by his re-discovered ability to feel love.
The production features scenic design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Theresa Squire and lighting design by Matt Frey.
