Jeremy Irons will play King Arthur alongside Melissa Errico as Guenevere and James Barbour as Lancelot in benefit concert of Camelot on June 6 at the Shubert Theatre. The performance, which benefits off-Broadway's Irish Repertory Theatre, will be helmed by the company’s artistic director Charlotte Moore, with musical direction by Mark Hartman. A gala post-performance dinner is on tap at Sardi’s.
Camelot is the classic 1960 Lerner & Loewe musical centering on a utopian land of lords, ladies and knights of the round table. When King Arthur discovers that his queen has fallen in love with his most trusted knight, the kingdom is threatened.
A Tony winner for The Real Thing, Irons has appeared on Broadway in Impressionism and currently stars in the Showtime series The Borgias. Errico, a Tony nominee for Amour, most recently appeared on Broadway in White Christmas and starred in a Broadway revival of Lerner & Loewe’s My Fair Lady. Barbour’s Broadway credits include A Tale of Two Cities, Assassins and Jane Eyre.
