Things are going to get spooky over at off-Broadway's Little Shubert Theatre this fall. Afraid of the Dark, a new thriller with an anonymous author, will begin performances September 8 with an opening night to be announced at a later date. Casting for the show, directed by Will Frears, will also be revealed shortly.
Afraid of the Dark is billed as "at once a play and singular theatrical experience, depicting as it does the ghoulish and fantastical things that happen when four people, all acquaintances, are visited by a mysterious, cryptic stranger. Afraid of the Dark both raises the hair on one's neck and raises the questions, 'Where does a nightmare end and reality begin?' and 'What makes you afraid of the dark?'"
The show will feature scenic design by Neil Patel, lighting design by Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer, costume design by Jenny Mannis and sound design by Fitz Patton. Afraid of the Dark is produced by Maberry Theatricals, James Nederlander Jr. and Craig Haffner and conceived and developed by Jim Steinmeyer, Devlin Elliott, Tom Kirdahy and its anonymous author.
