In the week leading into the Fourth of July holiday, Broadway's box office results remained steady—or slightly down—from the previous week. As the number of shows continues to shrink (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo closed as scheduled on July 3), a third of those still running pulled in at least $900,000 for the week, with the top three titles, led by Wicked, raking in almost twice that much. Broadway producers were doubtless delighted that the big July 4 fireworks display happened on a Monday, when most shows were dark.
