It looks like there will be a mother and child reunion during Glee's third season. Tony winner Idina Menzel is in "final negotiations" to reprise her role on the hit series as Shelby Corcoran, the biological mom of Rachel Berry (played by Lea Michele), according to Deadline.com. Menzel will reportedly have a major arc on the show, appearing in 10-12 episodes as a new teacher at William McKinley High.
"I am truly honored and excited that Glee asked me back," Menzel wrote via Twitter. "It means so much to me. Thanks for everyone's support."
A Tony winner for creating the role of Elphaba in Wicked, Menzel’s theater credits include a Tony-nominated performance as Maureen in the original production and movie adaptation of Rent and off-Broadway productions of The Wild Party and See What I Wanna See.
"I'm really excited the that Idina is joining the family again," Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy told Deadline. "We missed her last year and we're happy that she is coming back."
