While Glee star and Broadway veteran Lea Michele was believed to be a front-runner to play Fanny Brice in Bartlett Sher's upcoming Broadway revival of Funny Girl, news broke last week that Emmy nominee Lauren Ambrose would take on the iconic role. So what does Michele have to stay about the casting choice?
"Honestly, I'm a huge fan of Lauren's and I can't wait to see it," Michele told Eonline.com. "I might be in the audience singing along. I might even storm the stage."
Michele has frequently called original Funny Girl star Barbra Streisand her idol and has performed songs from the show, including "Don't Rain On My Parade," on Glee, as well as on the 2010 Tony Awards telecast. The former Spring Awakening star and her TV castmates are headed to the big screen in the Glee: The 3-D Concert Movie, in theaters August 12.
