Jesus Christ Superstar Eyes Spring 2012 Run at Neil Simon Theatre

Hot on the heels of the closing notice for Catch Me If You Can comes a report in the New York Post that Jesus Christ Superstar will open at the Neil Simon Theatre in the spring of 2012. As previously reported, the Des McAnuff-helmed revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s rock opera, which received rave reviews at the Stratford Festival in Ontario, will transfer to the La Jolla Playhouse this fall, running November 18-December 31.

The cast of Jesus Christ Superstar features Paul Nolan as Jesus, Chilina Kennedy as Mary Magdalene and Josh Young as Judas, with Tony winner Brent Carver in the role of Pontius Pilate.

No word on a possible fall 2011 tenant for the Neil Simon Theatre, one of the leading musical playhouses on Broadway.
