Friday Night Lights' LaMarcus Tinker Cast as Love Interest for Mercedes on Glee

Looks like love is in the air for Glee's Mercedes (Amber Riley) once McKinley High is back in session this fall. Friday Night Lights veteran LaMarcus Tinker has been cast as a possible love interest for the soulful teen, according to EW.com.

The series' second season finale hinted that romance would blossom between Mercedes and Sam (Chord Overstreet). Overstreet, however, has decided not to return to the show as a recurring character.

Best known as Friday Night Lights' Dallas, Tinker has also appeared on TV's Cougar Town and will be seen in the upcoming independent film The First Time.

Glee's third season begins on September 20 on Fox.
