As the 37th season of Saturday Night Live premiered on September 24, Broadway.com asked readers to vote for which of their favorite stage stars they’d love to see hosting the comedy show. Take a look below to find out who made the top three!
1. Kristin Chenoweth – 54%
She's hilarious, adorable and uber-talented. Yes, this Tony winner can do it all: comedy (Pushing Daisies, Glee), drama (The West Wing) and, of course, musicals (Wicked, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Promises, Promises), so what better place to show off her versatile superstardom than on SNL? With a new TV show on the way (Good Christian Belles) and a new album out, we bet Chenoweth could even do double duty as the evening’s musical guest!
2. Daniel Radcliffe – 25%
Seems like a no-brainer, right? Radcliffe has been on every talk show imaginable as the star of Harry Potter, so it makes perfect sense the How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying headliner would try his hand hosting this venerable comedy show. With his self-deprecating charm and sly sense of humor, Radcliffe would certainly Succeed in delighting a live studio audience.
3. Hugh Jackman – 6%
With a resume full of eclectic roles, from X-Men’s adamantium-clawed Wolverine to a time-traveling lover in the romantic comedy Kate & Leopold, Jackman would have a ball with the bizarre characters required for sketch comedy. This Aussie song and dance man has hosted Saturday Night Live once before (in 2001), but that was pre-Tony Award (for 2003’s The Boy From Oz); he’s due for a repeat visit!
