The cream of the Broadway crop came out on October 3 to salute director George C. Wolfe as he received of the 2011 Mr. Abbott Award for lifetime achievement from the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation. Wolfe’s amazing career spans two decades and landmark productions of plays (both parts of Angels in America; The Normal Heart) and musicals (Jelly’s Last Jam; Caroline, or Change). Wolfe received his award at a gala held at the Edison Ballroom, with performances and tributes from stage pros the director has worked with over the years.
