Tony winner Marissa Jaret Winokur is set to join the cast of the TV Land comedy Retired at 35 opposite former Anything Goes star Jessica Walter, according to Deadline.com. Winokur will play Amy, the sharp-tongued sister of David (Johnathan McClain), a successful New York businessman who moved to a Florida retirement community to reconnect with his parents (Walter and George Segal). Retired at 35 debuted in January 2011 and the show's second season will begin early in 2012.
Winokur's character is described as a well-off saleswoman for a pharmaceutical company with a bubbly personality, whose bad habit of choosing men has left her personal life in a mess.
Winokur made her Broadway debut as a replacement Jan in the 1994 revival of Grease. After scoring a Tony Award in Hairspray, Winokur returned to the Broadway company for two additional engagements and reprised the role at in a recent Hollywood Bowl staging of the musical. Her film and TV credits include The Talk, Scary Movie, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Stacked, Fever Pitch and Dancing with the Stars.
