As previously speculated, Chord Overstreet is now confirmed to return to Glee as Sam Evans for a multi-episode/recurring arc, according to EW.com. Overstreet will appear in episodes beginning this December.
“I had the best time on Glee and couldn’t be more excited to be returning,” Overstreet told the site. Glee creator Ryan Murphy also expressed his enthusiasm for Overstreet's return, saying, “We love Chord and have always said that we wanted him back. So here’s an early Christmas present for all the Gleeks—Sam is coming back to McKinley, and just in time for sectionals!”
Overstreet departed the series at the end of season two after the producers declined to make Sam a regular character. The second season finale concluded with Sam beginning a romance with Mercedes (Amber Riley). Overstreet's exit was explained by saying that his character's father had found work in a different town. Riley's character has since begun dating Glee newcomer LaMarcus Tinker.
Glee returns with new episodes on November 1.
