Broadway.com staffers showed off their theatrical side on October 31 with an office costume contest. Appropriately enough, this year’s grand prize winners channeled one of the hottest shows on Broadway: War Horse!
Group sales reps Laura Harrison and Alyssa Northrop created an awesome replica of lead horse Joey using less than $40 in raw materials. “We wanted to do something together,” Laura says of their costume, “and something Broadway-related.” After studying a video of the Tony-winning Broadway play and other pictures of horses, Alyssa sketched a design. From there, the pals disassembled a wicker basket and constructed the costume using duct tape, floral wire, felt, cardboard strips and two yards of gauzy material.
Pictured below with Laura and Alyssa are honorable mention winners Loretta Boatey (creepy cat) and Sarah Kraynik (Selma from The Simpsons), second place winner Nicki Snodgrass (half man/half woman) and third place winner Kelly Flynn (piñata). Happy Halloween to all!
