The Tony Awards Administration Committee met today for the first time on November 3 to decide the eligibility of the first three Broadway productions (Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, Master Class and Follies) of the 2011-2012 season. The Tony administrators will meet a total of four times to settle eligibility questions for the 2012 Tony Awards. The following decisions were announced:
Reeve Carney will be considered eligible in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical category for his performance in Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark.
Jennifer Damiano will be considered eligible in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for her performance in Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark.
Julie Taymor will be considered eligible in the Best Direction of a Musical category for Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark .
Tyne Daly will be considered eligible in the Best Performance by an Actress in Leading Role in a Play category for her performance in Master Class.
All other decisions were consistent with the opening night credits. In the case of Follies, this means that above-the-title stars Bernadette Peters, Jan Maxwell, Danny Burstein and Ron Raines will be considered for Tonys in the leading actor and actress in a musical categories.
