Grace Gummer will play the daughter of Anjelica Huston and Michael Cristofer on NBC’s Broadway-centric series Smash, according to Variety. The guest-star spot could possibly become recurring role for Gummer in the new show, which is set to debut on February 6, 2012.
Smash centers on the casting of a proposed musical biography of Marilyn Monroe. The cast and creative team is packed with Broadway talent, including actors Christian Borle, Megan Hilty, Brian d'Arcy James, Will Chase and Savannah Wise. The series is created by Theresa Rebeck, author of the Broadway comedy Seminar.
Gummer, a daughter of Meryl Streep, recently appeared in the Broadway revival of Arcadia. Cristofer, a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright (The Shadow Box), recently starred in the off-Broadway premiere of Tony Kushner’s The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism With a Key to the Scriptures.
