Will My Week With Marilyn Go Broadway Starring Katy Perry as Monroe?

Could Katy Perry play blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe on Broadway? Film mogul Harvey Weinstein sure thinks so! The Hollywood and Broadway producer told E! Online that if his new movie My Week With Marilyn is a hit, he wants to make a musical out of it and that chart topping pop star Perry would be his top choice for the lead role.

“If the movie works, I would try to make it a musical and I would go to Katy first,” Weinstein told E! “I think she can play Marilyn on the Broadway stage...I think she would be amazing.”

Perry recently paid homage to the screen icon, recreating the famous Seven Year Itch scene that finds Monroe’s dress being blown high over a subway vent for a German TV commercial. She also posted about My Week With Marilyn on Facebook and Twitter, causing 250,000 fans to download the trailer in an hour, according to Weinstein.

My Week With Marilyn features Michelle Williams as Monroe and also features Tony Award winner Eddie Redmayne.
